Routine dental visits are necessary in order to maintain healthy teeth and gums. Good dental hygiene and regular check-ups will help keep your mouth healthy and prevent infection, tooth decay, and tooth loss. Dental exams also give us the opportunity to provide suggestions for future care based off of your current dental routine. Check-ups should generally take place every 6 months, but other factors may require exams to happen more often.
A comprehensive initial oral examination is always the first order of business at our office. Your first visit with us is vital in establishing an oral health baseline and a relationship with our team. During your first appointment, we will ask you about your health history and dental history. We will also perform a full oral examination to look for signs of tooth decay, bone loss, oral cancer, and gum disease. At a routine check-up, our team will clean your teeth, removing any surface stains or tartar buildup that requires the use of professional tools. A series of X-rays may be performed to provide a more accurate picture. Dr. Waters will then address any questions, complaints, or concerns you may have and discuss a personalized oral treatment plan designed specifically for you.
